Casa Grande, AZ -- Rush Select kicked off this past weekend with the first round of tryouts. Top Select staff were in attendance in Casa Grande as the tryouts got off to a great start.
Director of Rush Select Brian Lux had this to say about the past few days,
“The first two ID Camps were a great success. It was nice to have some new coaches from last year’s Mentor program joining the staff as well as other Rush guests including Tiago Calvano (Director of International Affairs), Arian Hoxha (Rush Soccer National Technical Director and Hawaii Rush TD), Tim Schulz (Rush Soccer CEO & President) and Davide Corti (Director of Coach & Player Development). I think the kids got a lot out of the experience and our 06 teams are going to be very strong!”
Director of Coach & Player Development Davide Corti and Director of International Affairs Tiago Calvano followed up with a few words from their first experience with Rush Select:
Tiago stated, “I wanted to attend Casa Grande and witness this cornerstone program in Rush. I am impressed." Tiago, now retired after 14 year playing professionally, continued, "The Level of play is very good… There are some special players here." Tiago, recently on board full-time with Rush Soccer as he helps expand the club’s global footprint, played for Barcelona alongside Messi in his early playing days. His overall analysis of Rush Select: "This program is exceptional."
Among the star-studded cast in attendance was Davide Corti who grew up in the great AC Milan system and later became employed in the role of expanding the AC Milan methodology. More details on his background and experience will be captured in future stories and updates as he delves into the task of enhancing the methodologies in place for Rush coaches and players alike. When asked about his experience with Rush Select this past weekend, Corti said,
"I am now working for Rush in a similar capacity, so it has been great to get out here and see players experiencing the Rush culture firsthand. I like what Rush has in place as I work with Coach & Player Development to implement the Rush Way Philosophy."
Rush Select evaluates players year round to bring elite talent together with the same passion and purpose. The Select Program will compete in domestic tournaments in addition to International Tours following the identification process that is currently taking place.
