Josh Tyler Joins Rush National Staff As College Advisory Program (CAP) Director

CAP-DIRECTOR-JOSH-TYLER

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, November 14 -- Josh Tyler joins Rush Soccer as the College Advisory Program (CAP) Director, standing out in his wealth of knowledge and passion for the college recruitment process.

In his 17 year coaching career, Tyler coached St. Charles Community College to a 41-11-3 record, Region XVI Championships in 2014, 2015 and 2016, along with being awarded Region XVI Coach of the Year in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Tyler left St. Charles having coached 25 All-Region and All-American players, leading the team to their first National Championship berth in 2014, finishing 9th in the country.

As a former goalkeeper at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO, Tyler understands firsthand the college recruitment process.

“My passion lies with helping players understand the recruitment process,” Tyler said. “CAP’s biggest goal is for any Rush player that wants to attend college to have the information and resources to do that. We want college coaches to think of Rush Soccer first when they start thinking about their needs for their recruitment class. We need to connect the dots with all the local CAP Directors to give college coaches access to our huge network of players.”

CAP will host its first Regional Rush ID camps the summer of 2019, in Denver and St. Louis.

Tyler goes on about the initial plans for the program: “Most of this job is going to be about education: Educating the players, parents and coaches on how the recruitment process works. There is a ton of information out there. Some of it is good information, other information offered to high school kids and their families is just a money grab for companies. We need to be able to provide Rush players with all the information they need to make good, informed decisions.”

Tyler is currently an Assistant Coach at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Women's Soccer team and a Staff Trainer and Coach at Missouri Rush Soccer Club. In addition to coaching an 06 Girls Team, Tyler lives in St. Charles, MO, with his wife Emily and their two boys, Jackson and Harrison, who are involved with the Youth Development Program at Missouri Rush.

Tools like College Fit Finder and experiences like ID Camps offered to Rush players nationwide will be utilized to help educate families during the recruiting process.
